post for week 3
So the first two chapters were pretty easy to understand and take in. The third and fourth chapters were a bit more complex and new to me. In chapter four, they talked about the web site production team. There are a lot of members in this team, and thought they explained each roll well, it’s somewhat ambiguous as to where the writer comes in on all of this. At times they were saying “We’re just giving you this information so you know who your co-workers are in a big process like this” but at other times they were saying “learn some, or all, of these other job areas so you can have more versatility in where you work and who you work with. Chapter four left me thinking about if I should focus on any other skill talked about in this chapter.

Week 2 post
I was surprised by the readings this last week. Chapter one in our text book and the CD read. Both gravitated around gaming a lot (a subject I really like but didn’t expect to find it in an English class.). Well a lot of it for me was review. I’ve known about many of the web basics listed in both readings for some time now, but I can see why an introduction like that is needed. Those who haven’t grown up with computers all their life and those who are just beginning need this info on links, defining multimedia, interface and so forth. One thing I found funny though was the writer’s dedication at the opening of the book to his family. It’s the first text book I’ve seen devoted to their wife.

literacy/technology autobiography
I first learned use the computer when i was 5 probably. Just played games on it then didn't really get into learning other programs till around age 10. Even then it was only the basic word processors and email. At 14 I learned most of what I know now, becoming a decent computer user. I've never really blogged that much mainly because I didn't care to. I figured that the internet had enough people that like to talk about themselves and it didn't need one more. My wife started one recently though and I've posted there a few times.
Honestly i don't even know what constitutes as "supplementary online support" so i don't know if i can answer that question accurately. If it means: when I come across material that is unknown to me and I go and look it up on ,say, Google or forums how to better understand that area, then yes there are advantages of being able to look up unknowns on the internet. I don't see any disadvantages though.
